Well, we're really not "deep in the heart" of Texas, but we are surely in Texas. Ezra and I arrived Friday evening after being away from Marc for just over a week. It was wonderful to be together as a family again and Ezra was all smiles when he saw his daddy.
It felt so odd walking outside to the nearly 70 degree weather after being in dead of winter in Utah just that morning. There was beautiful sunset as we drove home...I'm still getting used to watching the sun set on the horizon rather than behind the mountains. The land surrounding Midland is dotted with oil rigs that are constantly going. Many people have told me Midland is one of the ugliest places on earth. I guess because I had low expectations of a desolate desert (which it is) I've been surprised by its unique beauty. In a way, the landscape reminds me of Ghana in some places -- flat and dry.
I'm so happy to be here so far and so excited for this new adventure. However, our apartment is one giant mess and I feel like a hoarder--how can anyone live like this day after day? It is slowly coming together, but very slowly since I have Ezra to distract me. This whole moving process makes me want to throw out even more than I already have. I hate the thought of doing this again in another 7 months when our lease is up, but hopefully it won't be as intense since the move will be much shorter. Our current apartment isn't too bad--the new carpet is so nice and our living area is actually bigger than our condo. We're just missing all the storage we had in our garage. If it weren't for the kitchen with its very old appliances and cabinets, I wouldn't mind staying here longer.
Now that I have our router working, I'll post more very soon. And most of my posts will have plenty of Ezra pictures, which is what I know everyone wants. But for now, I just wanted to leave a little update.
