Louisa @ 4 Months

Louisa's fourth month flew by!  About a week before she turned 4 months, I was still telling people she was 3 months when they asked her age.  I think it went by so fast because her temperament has improved so much.  She goes to sleep very well now, without needing much soothing.  She is happy in the car and just happy in general.

 At 4 months old, Louisa...
...weighs 11 lbs 8 oz (10th percentile and 3 lbs less than Ezra at the same age).
...is 23 1/2 inches tall (21st percentile).
...wakes up 1-2 times a night (I jinxed myself on this one by posting she was sleeping through the night at 3 months).
...wears size 1 diapers.
...still in 0-3 month clothes.
...still loves sucking on her hands and still won't take a pacifier.
...sleeps in her bassinet in our closet (thankfully she is small and still fits in the bassinet nicely, because I'm dreading transitioning her into the same room as Ezra.  I imagine myself waking up to two children every time she cries, instead of just one.)
...loves her toys, especially her ball and giraffe.  When you give one to her she quickly brings it to her mouth and tears into it like a lion.
...recently discovered her feet and loves to grab her toes.
...has very little hair.  Mostly bald except for a small patch on top, a mullet at the nape of her neck, and a little around her cowlick that sticks straight up.
...is talking, smiling, and laughing more and more everyday.

Still a skinny girl, but her cheeks are getting chubbier!

Her favorite little ball.  Ezra seems to give it to her all the time, because I'll leave the room and come back to find it in her hands.

Sucking those fingers!

The only time she gives me grief is at church, which really isn't her fault since she just naps better in the crib now and by the time the 3 hour block is over she is exhausted.  It doesn't help either that I'm trying to teach a handful of 3 year olds while she's crying too.  Marc will take her when he's not teaching or conducting Elders quorum, but then he's usually helping out in nursery so either way she's not getting our full attention.  But that's life with babies...and we love this baby!

Ezra asks to hold his little sister quite often...

Look at those eyelashes!

Ezra's favorite game at the arcade...basketball, of course!

Ezra's way of playing skee ball...

This is how I found Ezra's bed when he woke up from his nap...

Louisa @ 3 Months

Oh this little girl...

It is a good thing she is so beautiful because she gives her mother much grief.

Really, I can't complain because she does let me sleep at night.  The past two weeks she's slept completely through the night more often than not, and if she does wake up it is only once.  The grief comes in getting her to go to sleep.  Recently, it has been a long, drawn out struggle and something that works one day to soothe her is ineffective the next.

At three months old, Louisa...
...sleeps through the night.
...wears size 1 diapers.
...fits her 0-3 month clothes a little bit better.
...loves to suck her hands.
...no longer takes a pacifier (I hope this is just a stage!).
...still hates driving in the car.  The only way I can get her to stay calm is to sing Primary songs the whole time we're driving.
...laughs when you tickle her neck.
...still sleeps in her bassinet, which is now in our walk-in closet.
...loves watching her older brother.

But even with the bedtime grief, we love this little girl to death!

7.4.13 Independence Day

For the second year in a row, we celebrated the 4th of July by going to see the fireworks in downtown Midland with friends.  And once again it was hot, crowded, and the live music was way too loud.  However, the fireworks were great and the festivities made it feel like a holiday.

This year they had a kids activity area inside the convention building (yay for air conditioning).  Ezra got a temporary tattoo he wasn't too sure about and some stickers he enjoyed sticking all over himself.  They also had some carnival games (including one where you had to throw fake poop into a toilet?) where he won the star sunglasses that were in most of the photos in my last post.  He wore them constantly for about a week.

We ate snow cones and talked with friends while waiting for the fireworks to start.  Somehow, Louisa managed to fall asleep despite the very loud live music.

Last year, Ezra was terrified of the fireworks, but we thought he would enjoy them being a year older.  We were wrong.  Once they started he only wanted to get in the stroller, probably hoping we would leave.  After about ten minutes, he was brave enough to get out and watch them, but he still didn't look very happy about it.

What we've been up to this past month...

 Louisa has been smiling lots.

Ezra loves hanging out with his baby sister.

This is what I find when Ezra wakes up from his nap...

Louisa loves sitting in the Bumbo chair.

Ezra calls the Bumbo "baby's chair." He likes to sit in his chair when Louisa is sitting in hers.

Ezra has figured out how to use the camera.

And Louisa just spends a lot of time being cute.

Lousia @ One and Two Months

Louisa at 1 Month...

and Louisa at 2 months...

Doesn't look like that much of a difference, but she is growing!

At two months old, Louisa...
...weighs 9 lb 4 oz (14th percentile).
...is 21 3/4 inches long (28th percentile).
...still wears size Newborn diapers.
...has grown out of most of her newborn size clothes,
but 0-3 months still seems to drown her (like the onesie in the photo).
...smiles a lot and talks to us when she is happy.
...but is still pretty fussy a majority of the time.
...only wakes up once a night to eat.  She's even slept from 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. a couple of times.

I've loved watching her become more socially aware.  It's almost like having a new baby.  She has such a beautiful smile, but I can't seem to catch it on camera.  Ezra still loves his little sister and likes to give her "knuckles" (or what he calls "elbow").
